The Wall St. Journal says it’s finally time to buy a house
An article was just published in the Wall St. Journal that espoused the benefits of buying a home now. The author quoted Warren Buffet in justifying some of the reasons why buying a home now is a smart investment.
Of course, Warren Buffet has much to gain with a strong housing market. However, the principles laid out are quite true and none more so than the comparison of owning versus renting. As we have discussed many times, home prices and interest rates are so affordable that it makes more financial sense to own rather than to rent. Of all the different points in the article, this is the one that truly drives the point home.
Could you enjoy long term appreciation by owning a home? Definitely – and possibly not. Could you save money on taxes by owning versus renting? Definitely – and possibly not. But, unless you’re comparing buying a 5 bedroom home to renting a 1 bedroom apartment, owning just makes more financial sense.
Don’t take our word for it – read the article and see for yourself why more and more people – most importantly those with the background and credentials – feel that buying is the right thing to do.
